Who needs a Metabolic Detoxification Program?

The answer is simple: just about anyone walking on this planet!

The term “detox” is used in various ways, creating confusion about what it is and what it is not. For some, they may think of “detox” as something that occurs sitting in a sauna, while others might associate a juice or water cleanse as a “detox”.

However, within functional medicine and nutrition, we know metabolic detoxification (“detox”) refers to the body’s ability to effectively eliminate toxins. This is properly referred to as biotransformation.

The liver, through a series of nutrient-dependent reactions, is the main organ that is responsible for the biotransformation of toxins into a form that is easily excreted from the body through urine, feces, and sweat.

While true detoxification is something that is occurring all the time, the overexposure of toxins combined with a diet that is depleted of the many nutrients needed to allow this process to occur, leaves many people in need of a comprehensive, nutrient-rich detoxification program as a way of hitting the re-set button.

What is a Healthy Metabolic Detoxification Program?

  • One that is nutrient-rich to support the pathways in the body that help to reduce the toxic burden making your body more effective at releasing toxins rather than storing them.

  • It includes an abundance of fresh food, rich in nutrients, protein and fat.

  • It uses a medical food and supplement that provides extra nutrients to support the liver and the metabolic pathways.

  • It can help to get to the root causes of your symptoms rather than masking them.

  • It supports Phase I and Phase II detoxification pathways in the liver as well as the excretion of the toxins.

  • It encourages 64-80 oz. of water daily.

  • It encourages light to moderate activity (not vigorous activity during this time).

Who would benefit?

If you are reading this, chances are that you are experiencing some symptoms that led you here. There are many symptoms associated to poor or impaired detoxification abilities. Some of those symptoms can include:

  • Headaches

  • Joint or muscle pain

  • Hormonal disturbances

  • Inability to lose weight

  • Low energy/poor sleep/fatigue

  • Changes in mood/concentration/thinking process

Research also suggests that many chronic diseases are connected to a build up of toxins.

One easy way to know if you would benefit from a metabolic detoxification program is to complete the

Medical Symptoms Questionnaire (MSQ)

If you score 50 or higher, the 28-day program can be ideal for you.

What a metabolic detoxification program is NOT:

  • A starvation diet where you can’t think clearly or function in life. In fact, get ready to eat some amazing food!

  • A “colon cleanse”

  • Extreme fasting or avoidance of food (This can cause harm since the body needs energy to function and energy comes from calories in food!)

  • Detox patches placed on your feet

  • An abundance of diarrhea

  • A fad diet

  • A miracle or cure-all, though it can provide a plethora of benefits. 😊
